SEED is an organization consisting of the Board of Directors (BOD, the Board), the Communications Officer (CO), and the Chapters, each of which consist of executive and general members.
The purpose of the Board of Directors is to provide advisory counsel and guide SEED chapters in their endeavours. In addition, the Board acts as a checking body to ensure that all activities are being executed in line with the organization’s values, mission, goals, strategic planning, and objectives, and that resources are being used effectively.
The purpose of the Communications Officer is to facilitate open communication between the BOD and Chapters, and Chapters and Chapters. In addition, the CO works to respond to organization emails, to update the website, and to generally oversee all organizational activities.
Chapters are in existence to execute all SEED programs and activities – essentially, they are the movers and shakers of the organization and without them SEED would cease to exist. Each chapter must be responsible for some aspect of the either the Scholarship Program or the Internship Program, or both. In addition, each Chapter is free to develop its own projects, provided that they are parallel to the SEED ideology and values. Finally, SEED Chapters must work to raise some funds to cover their own administrative costs, which must be separate from donations intended for the scholarship program.
Our Communications Officer, Nitasha Puri, can be reached at info@seedcan.org.
We currently have two chapters in existence: SEED McMaster and SEED Western.
